Ceredigion's Welsh Liberal Democrat MP Mark Williams has expressed hisdisappointment after a Liberal Democrat motion which called on theGovernment and public sector to sign up to the 10:10 campaign wasdefeated by 71 votes.

The 10:10 campaign is encouraging as many people as possible to make acommitment to cut their emissions by 10% by 2010.

Mark Williams signed up to the campaign shortly after its launch inSeptember.

Commenting, Mark Williams said:

"The 10:10 campaign is largely aimed at individuals, but the Governmentcould have sent out an important message by formally signing up.

"Many government departments have already signed up but we need actionfrom everyone to help reach our targets.

"We all know that there's much more pressure to act when you arecommitted to a course of action, and I'm sure this would have made a bigcontribution to cutting our emissions."
