Williams Pledges to do his bit for British Armed Forces Family

Ceredigion's Welsh Liberal Democrat MP Mark Williams has pledged to dohis bit for the British Armed Forces family.

Mark Williams met with representatives from The Royal British Legion atthe recent Liberal Democrat party conference in Bournemouth where he waspresented with a copy of the Legion's manifesto for the next generalelection.

The manifesto sets out priorities for the next Government to improveconditions for the British Armed Forces past and present and theirfamilies. It encourages MPs and prospective parliamentary candidates(PPCs) to "do their bit" for Service Personnel and their families, thebereaved, veterans and dependants.

Kevin Shinkwin, the Legion's Head of Public Affairs, said, "We're reallygrateful to Mark Williams for making the time to meet with us and listento our concerns. Our message to every candidate standing at the generalelection is very simple: 'It's time to do your bit'.

"The entire Armed Forces family needs the support of politicians fromall parties," he added. "Our manifesto outlines practical ways the nextgovernment can help, and we hope all the parties will give it seriousconsideration".

Commenting, Mark Williams MP said:

"I was delighted to meet with The Royal British Legion. They have animportant role to play in highlighting the needs of the whole ArmedForces family.

"I firmly believe that not enough has been done to help former servicepersonnel when it comes to issues such as education and training,healthcare and financial support.
