WASTE WATCHERS - Day 3

2011 Ebrill 6 12:58 PM

Figures uncovered by the Welsh Liberal Democrats back in August 2010 revealed that the Labour-Plaid government managed to rack up a staggering £23,000 worth of fines as civil servants didn’t refuel their cars before returning them to the car hire company. The refuelling charges were up by £2,000 on the previous year's figure and more than twice what they were in 2004.

South Wales East Assembly Candidate Veronica German said:

"During the Welsh General Election campaign, the Welsh Liberal Democrats will expose the waste and inefficiency of the Labour-Plaid government over the past four years. When every family, charity and business is having to make every pound stretch that little bit further, Wales needs a government that does the same. Labour and Plaid Cymru have made waste, incompetence and inefficiency into an art form.

"Waste of money like this cannot be tolerated when we are facing difficult financial times. The Labour-Plaid government didn’t spend our money wisely during the past four years and they cannot be trusted if they get back into government. The Welsh Liberal Democrats want a lean Welsh government to deliver our policies that will boost our economy, improve our education system and cut waiting times in the NHS"
