Researcher and Personal Assistant for Eluned Parrott AM, Regional Assembly Member for South Wales Central

Salary range: £19,296 - 28,287 (Band 2)

(Please note that recruitment will normally be at the minimum of the range)

Working hours: 37

Location: National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff

Eluned Parrott, Regional Assembly Member for South Wales Central, is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with a keen interest in politics to provide the Member with high quality research services on a wide range of topics. We are looking for a creative thinker with a commitment to developing new ideas, to help us improve quality, promote innovation and identify opportunities to be involved in key research.

Main duties include:

  • Providing a comprehensive research support service for the Assembly Member

  • Preparing research briefings, speaking notes and questions according to the guidance provided

  • Working closely with the Regional Manager who manages the Member's diary and ensuring that the Member is sufficiently briefed in advance of all engagements

  • Assisting with other aspects of the team's work, including casework and campaigns when necessary

Essential criteria include:

  • Relevant experience in a research or information environment

  • Evidence of good analytical skills, including the ability to summarise accurately a wide range of views and be able to quickly identify key issues from a variety of sources of information

  • Excellent and demonstrable written and oral communication skills

  • An ability to make appropriate and effective use of ICT to analyse and present information

  • Ability to operate in a sensitive political environment
