Airport Bus Link to begin in August - Eluned Parrott

The long-awaited high quality Express Bus Service from Cardiff to Cardiff Airport, first promised by the Welsh Government in July 2009, will finally begin this August, First Minister Carwyn Jones announced today following pressure from Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member Eluned Parrott.

Eluned Parrott AM said;

"I'm pleased that the Welsh Government is finally honouring its promise to introduce a direct fast bus service from Cardiff to Cardiff Airport, however it's disappointing that this service will have been on the cards for more than four years before actually being delivered.

"1.6 million passengers used Cardiff Airport in 2009, but last year that number dipped under the million mark. Had these transport links been addressed four years ago, as one part of a proactive Aviation Strategy for Wales, passenger numbers and the number of flights offered by Cardiff Airport could have been very different today.

"I will be holding the Welsh Government to account to ensure that this bus service is launched on target this August, and would encourage residents in South Wales who will be using Cardiff Airport this summer to consider supporting this new service."
