Eleanor Burnham, Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for North Wales has warmly welcomed the news that treatment for sick and premature babies in Wales is to receive a £2million funding boost.
Commenting, Eleanor, Welsh Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Children and Young People, said: "This funding is long overdue and it has taken a great deal of determined pressure from a number of sources to get this result. It is a major step forward for neo-natal services in Wales.
"I have been a long-time supporter of the children's charity Bliss, and I know from our discussions what a difference this funding will make.
"I am particularly pleased that neo-natal services in North Wales are to be improved because that means distances between home and treatment will now be shorter and that will be of great benefit to mothers, babies and their families. "It is right and proper that the Minister has taken the advice of the Expert Group and made these crucial improvements. I look forward to seeing the detailed plans."
