Welsh Liberal Democrat Mick Bates AM welcomes the launch of the new Energy Saving Trust initiative 'Green Communities' which will help to reduce the carbon footprint of communities across Wales through an integrated package of advice, support and funding. Commenting Welsh Liberal Democrat Mick stated: "The Energy Saving Trust 'Green Communities' scheme is an excellent initiative which will play a key role in helping communities across Wales to understand their carbon footprint and how they can take action to reduce the impact that everyday activities have on the environment. "Many people often have difficulty in accessing the maze of funding and support that is available for renewable energy which can often act as a deterrent. The Green Communities scheme will ease the process by helping to develop a tailored and achievable action plan for individual communities and identifying funding and installers for energy efficiency and renewable energy measures. "Action at a local and community level is crucial if we are to see real progress in tackling climate change. There are many local groups across Wales with excellent ideas on how to reduce the carbon footprint of their community and I hope that Green Communities can provide the support they need to develop these ideas into action."
