Welsh Liberal Democrats have today selected their candidates who will fight the South Wales Central regional elections to the National Assembly for Wales in May 2011.
A democratic all member ballot in South Wales Central selected the following to stand as Welsh Liberal Democrat candidates for the elections in 2011:
1. John Dixon
2.Eluned Parrott
Commenting, John Dixon, lead candidate on the South Wales Central list said:
I am absolutely delighted to have been selected to lead the Welsh Liberal Democrat South Wales Central list for the 2011 Assembly elections. This is an area that has been let down by Labour for too long and continues to be let down by and ineffective and wasteful Labour-Plaid government that, sadly, delivers worse services in health and education than people receive in England. Wales deserves better.
Eluned Parrott, the second candidate on the list said:
The role of a regional Assembly Member for South Wales Central is to represent the whole of the constituency, from Penderyn to Pontyclun to Penarth. If elected by the people of the region, I, along with John Dixon, will be that strong voice fighting on their behalf in Cardiff Bay.
Jenny Randerson AM for Cardiff Central said:
The Welsh Liberal Democrats missed out on winning a seat in South Wales Central by a tiny margin at the last election. John Dixon will lead a first class team that can give our part of Wales an effective voice in the Assembly against Labour and Plaids waste and mismanagement.
