Chinese Air Link should Not Receive Subsidy

Eluned Parrott AM, Welsh Liberal Democrat Shadow Transport Minister has come out in opposition to an air link between China and Wales receiving a subsidy. First Minister Carwyn Jones is looking to establish a direct air route from China to Wales.

Eluned said: "The two hour journey from London is a small part of the journey between Chongqing and Wales and with a tightened budget it is not something we should be spending limited funds on.

"The money could be better spent on improvements to Cardiff airport so that more European routes become commercially viable.

"We should use any available transport funds to improve our links with our more significant trading partners in England and the rest of Europe. Improved links along the M4 and A55 corridors must surely be higher priority."
