‘Achievements today reflect years of hard work and persistence’ – Aled Roberts AM

Commenting on today's GCSE results, Aled Roberts, Shadow Welsh Liberal Democrat Education Minister said:

"Congratulations to all those who have got the GCSE results they wanted today. Their achievements reflect years of hard work and persistence from students, parents and teachers.

"Of course it is disappointing that the percentage of pupils receiving A* - C grades has fallen, but the silver lining is the gap between Wales and the rest of the UK for A* and A grades has been slightly cut - a trend that I hope will continue.

"GCSEs are a crucial stepping stone in life - whether to further academic study, vocational education or into the workplace and training. The students should use these results as a stepping stone to consider their next career move - but for now, they deserve time to celebrate their achievements!"
