Senior Researcher (Band 2) for the Welsh Liberal Democrat Group at the National Assembly for Wales

Salary range: £19,296 - 28,287 (Band 2)

(Please note that recruitment will normally be at the minimum of the range)

Working hours: 37 Hours

Location: National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff

Purpose of Job:

To provide high quality research services on a wide range of topics ensuring the coordination and forward planning of political research for assembly business to maximize the impact the of the Welsh Liberal Democrat group.

Main duties include:

  • Develop, update and regularly review a research plan which reflects the political priorities of the Group

  • Provide research material to support AMs, their offices and the communications team as and when needed.

  • Draft questions, motions and amendments, briefings and speeches for plenary

  • Disseminate research material to as wide an audience as possible

Essential criteria include:

  • Relevant experience in a political/research environment

  • Experience of working directly with influential, high profile people in a pressured environment

  • Experience of delivering research or briefing in a parliamentary or similar environment

  • Evidence of good analytical skills, including the ability to summarise accurately a wide range of views and be able to quickly identify key issues from a range of sources of information
