William Powell AM co-sponsors National Assembly debate on renewable energy generation in the Severn Estuary
William Powell, Welsh Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Environment, Energy and Sustainable Development, has joined representatives from Wales' other three parties in co-sponsoring an Individual Members' Debate on the potential to harness renewable energy from the Severn Estuary.
William Powell, Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales, said:
"The Severn Estuary has a huge potential to generate renewable energy and we have a responsibility fully to explore and consider the options available to us. Although a number of proposals have been made over the years, we are still no-closer to identifying a solution which balances our need to build a low-carbon economy, with satisfying our obligation to protect our unique natural habits.
I believe by having this debate today we can engender a much needed dialogue across all interested parties both in Wales, the South West of England - and indeed the UK as a whole."
