William Powell
AC Canolbarth a Gorllewin Cymru 
Cafodd William Powell ei ethol fel Aelod Cynulliad dros Ganolbarth a Gorllewin Cymru ym mis Mai 2011.
He attended Talgarth School and Gwernyfed High School, gaining a scholarship to read Modern Languages (French and German) at Pembroke College, Oxford. He graduated in 1986 and now lives with his family on their organic farm in the Black Mountains near Talgarth, Powys.
A qualified teacher, he has taught French and German at a number of schools in Wales and the Marches. He was latterly Head of German at Hereford Sixth Form College, where he was also the European Officer.
William has served as County Councillor for Talgarth since 2004 and has been active in rural regeneration projects, including the restoration of Talgarth Mill, one of six projects across the UK to win financial support from the BIG Lottery in association with the BBC's Village SOS programme.
William is a former member and Audit Scrutiny Chair of the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority. Whilst on that body he was active in the campaign for direct elections to the National Park Authorities in Wales.
William was also a founding board member of Wales in Europe and currently serves as Chair of the Wales Council European Movement. In addition, William is a Council Member of the European Liberal Democrats (ELDR) and works closely with Liberal sister-parties across the continent.
He is a member of the FUW and was until recently Vice Chair of Tourism Partnership Mid Wales, which is based in Machynlleth. He is a Governor of Talgarth CP School and Gwernyfed High School. William is a member of the Lloyd George Society, where he also serves on the committee.

William Powell AM, Welsh Liberal Democrat spokesman on Farming and Rural Affairs, has today confirmed that his party will not support the Agricultural Wages Emergency Bill in its current form due to a number of significant flaws in the proposed legislation.
William Powell has argued that, despite assurances to the contrary from the Minister for Natural Resources and Food, the current Bill is very different from the previous Agriculture Wages Board. William Powell has also made clear that the Welsh Liberal Democrats cannot support the Bill due to the level of undemocratic powers the Minister is attempting to amass to himself.

Responding to the announcement that there is to be a review into the current Direct Payments system, Welsh Liberal Democrat Shadow Minister for Natural Resources and Food, William Powell AM, said:
"The Welsh Liberal Democrats have been campaigning relentlessly for the introduction of a scheme supporting farming in Wales' most challenging areas - something the Welsh Labour Government has hitherto consistently refused to do. I believe that this announcement potentially signifies a U-turn - and if so, it is to be welcomed.

"The use of an Emergency Bill for this legislation is opportunistic and completely undermines the democratic process.

William Powell AM, Welsh Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Rural Affairs, has called for greater urgency from Welsh Government to address the threat posed by the rise of Phytophthora ramorum in Welsh forests.
William Powell AM, Welsh Liberal Democrat for Mid and West Wales, said:
"Phytophthora ramorum presents a very real threat to Welsh forests and the timber sector in general. While the Welsh Government and Natural Resources Wales have engaged in felling to contain the pathogen's spread, I continue to receive concerns from foresters, particularly in North Wales, that not enough is being done.
